vitamine c : The glow ally
What is vitamin C?
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant naturally found in foods like citrus fruits. But only a small amount of vitamin C we consume will have an impact on our skin! That’s why many beauty products include synthetic forms of Vitamin C. L-ascorbic acid or THD ascorbate are the two types of vitamin C found in these formulations.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that allows melanin production to be adjusted. It can therefore reduce dark spot development and act like a natural brightener... plus prevent some signs of ageing!
BENEFIT
Brighten the skin and act as an antioxidant
CONCERN
Dull skin, dark spots

WHEN TO USE IT

It’s a potent antioxidant found naturally in foods like citrus fruits. But only a small amount of vitamin C you consume will have an impact on your skin! Synthetic forms of vitamin C are commonly used in cleansers, serums, oils, and more : L-ascorbic acid or THD ascorbate are the two types of vitamin C found in these formulations.
DO’S & DON’TS
- Use vitamin C daily for best results, especially during the day since it helps protect skin from environmental stressors like sun and pollution.
- Apply SPF before going out in the sun when using Vitamin C
- Avoid using at the same time as other powerful active ingredients such as retinol or AHA&BHA
Expert tip
Test the waters with a lower-concentration formula to see how your skin reacts. Slight tingling is normal, but if you do experience anything more intense, talk to your derm. Research shows that even very low concentrations (under 1%) deliver antioxidant protection and brightening benefits.

retinol & backushiol : The pro-aging partner
What are retinol and bakushiol?
Retinol is a synthetic version of vitamin A because vitamin A is rarely used in its raw state. Retinol is a gentle type of retinoid (generic term which includes all synthetic vitamins A). Plant-based bakushiol is a natural alternative to retinol.
How does it work?
Retinol boosts cell renewal stimulation which helps reduce wrinkles, combat loss of firmness, smooth skin texture and keep dark spots at bay...! Its efficacy is highly recommended, even by dermatologists!
BENEFIT
Smooth and tighten the skin.
CONCERN
Wrinkles, loss of firmness

DO’S & DON’TS
- It is recommended to apply retinol-based active products in the evening.
- Adopt it as soon as your skin starts showing first signs of ageing. You’re between 20 and 25? This may be a good idea to include it in your routine, twice a week.
- When using retinol, protect your skin with a SPF care before going out in the sun.
- Retinol shouldn’t be used if you’re pregnant.
- Avoid using it at once with vitamin C or AHA and BHA. It’s best to use one in the morning and the other in the evening.
Pro tip
Start by including retinol in your routine a few nights a week with a low concentration formula and a small quantity. Then, gradually increase the frequency and the concentration.

What are AHA/BHA?
AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) are mostly fruit acids. These molecules include salicylic acid, glycolic acid and lactic acid. They can be extracted or synthetically- produced to be integrated in skincare formulas. You can find them in scrubs but also creams and serums to gently exfoliate the skin.
How does it work?
The AHA-BHA exfoliate dead skin cells from the skin. It can breathe more easily. The skin is therefore better prepared to absorb the benefits of other skincare products. Bye-bye dull complexion, blocked pores or wrinkles that seem more settled.
BENEFIT
Improve skin texture and fight imperfections.
CONCERN
Blemishes, large pores

uv filters : The beneficial protective
What are UV filters?
UVA and UVB are two types of sunrays that go through the ozone layer. They might bring light and heat but ultra-violets A and ultra-violets B can cause some damage to the skin. Therefore, we need to protect ourselves when we stay out in the sun.
How does it work?
There are 2 kinds of “screens” against UV rays: a chemical screen that absorbs sunrays with the help of its actives; and the physical screen whose ingredients (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) create a barrier for the skin.
BENEFIT
Protect the skin and prevent damage caused by UV rays.
CONCERN
Sun Exposure

HYALURONIC ACID : The pampering agent
What is hyaluronic acid?
It’s a molecule that captures water. It is found naturally in the body but its production decreases with time. Luckily it can be synthesised and integrated into various serums and skincare products to take advantage of its smoothing and antioxidant actions.
How does it work?
By jellifying water in the skin, hyaluronic acid fills in spaces between skin cells, which has the effect of restoring skin volume, density and elasticity. This is why it’s also an excellent moisturizer.
BENEFIT
Plump up, smooth and restore skin’s suppleness.
CONCERN
Tautness, plumping loss, dry skin.

DO’S & DON’TS
- Combine it with another moisturizer for enhanced action: dry and sensitive skins will appreciate the gesture and the comfort.
- Adopt it whatever you skin type is: it won’t irritate despite its “acid” name.

Molecules
Split ends, brittle, dull or weak hair...All signs that show a damaged hair fibre. One solution: give it molecules and proteins, often the base of its natural constitution. That includes keratin, a key element to hair.

To make up for this decline, you can adopt hair care treatments that include them but you can also offer it others components containing natural or synthetic forms. An in-depth care for repaired, softer and shinier hair.

WHAT IS KERATIN ?
Keratin is a molecule naturally found in the skin, nails and hair. When subjected to exterior aggressors (from your hairdryer to the sun...), the keratin is going to suffer. Which is why using hair care that contains natural or synthetic forms of it is important to make up for it.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
By coating the hair shaft to keep its scales flat. The hair stays shiny, more resistant and impermeable.
What is keratin?
Keratin is a protein naturally found in the skin, nails and hair. But if these are exposed to exterior aggressors (from hairdryer to sun...), keratin is going to deteriorate. Which is why using hair care holding it in natural or synthetic forms is important to make up for it.
How does it work?
Keratin coats the hair shaft to keep its scales from opening. The hair stays shiny, more resistant and waterproof.
BENEFIT
Protect and reinforce hair.

DO’S & DON’TS
- Protect your keratin with a heat protectant hair care before using your heating appliance (hair dryer, hair straightener or curling iron...).
- Combine keratin with hyaluronic acid for an in-depth hair care treatment.
- If your hair is healthy, it’s not necessary to treat it with a keratin-enriched product: it could weigh it down.
Pro tip
Before applying a keratin-enriched mask, towel-dry your hair (without twisting it): it will better absorb this protein.
